okay BLOT #2 letsgooooo….

Starting with an absolute banger here:

THE HOLDOVERS is a freaking phenomenal movie and I cannot recommend it enough.

Paul Giamatti is legendary as always and the other two main characters gave some incredible performances that shoulda been Oscar noms imo (but who’s asking me bc why would they)

Anyway, it’s hard to explain the feelings I had while watching.

It’s so sad and so heartwarming at the same time.

But “bittersweet” doesn’t feel like the right word.

Doesn’t matter.

You’ll love it.

Remember how I’ve told y’all a trillion times how hard I have work to stay present and less anxious by consuming insane amounts of self help books??!????!!?!

Here’s another one for ya.

Some quotes that hit me from current Kindle read, The Art of Focus by Dan Koe:

“No idea is too sacred to question, and the more sacred it seems, the more it should be questioned. Question the things that people make you think you are crazy for questioning. That is the beginning of many inspiring origin stories.”

🦆

“The space between expectation and reality is tension, pain, and suffering. We often interpret a situation as difficult when it isn’t supposed to be any other way. It is what it is, and once you experience this profound truth, life becomes sustainably more enjoyable.”

🦆

“To the masters, repetition of the boring fundamentals is not boring. They have developed intrinsic philosophies and reasoning behind their actions. They look forward to it every day, because they understand that nothing good comes from the quick fix.”

🦆

“If you don’t know what you want, you will be told what you want, and you will believe it. If you don’t create a purpose, you will be assigned one. If you don’t create a career, you will be assigned one. If you don’t create a hierarchy of goals to invest your mental energy in, you will be assigned one, like climbing a corporate, religious, or status ladder just to realize you’ve wasted 80% of your life.”

Brandon and I went to Ikea for some furniture last week.

Sure, we got a desk and other useful stuff.

But my fave thing I got was this chair-shaped phone stand.

No idea why it makes me so happy but it was barely any money and it sparks a lot of joy so now it’s ours.

A great drawing for good people:

If you have sensitive eyes and go sploring on your iphone at night I HAVE AN APP FOR YOUUUUUUUU

I’m one of those people who doesn’t believe you HAVE TO avoid screen time at night.

My phone is my notebook and if I wake up at 4am with an idea that keeps me up I must type about it or I’ll never fall back asleep.

Similarly, if I have a question that wakes me up in the middle of the night and I know that taking 10 minutes to research and get my answer will calm me down and allow me to sleep, I’m absolutely going to do it.

I don’t just take notes and journal and explore for the hell of it…It’s actually a legitimate need for my mentals.

The anxiety will build up if I don’t get it out of my head and I literally can’t carry on with my night or day or whatever else needs to get done.

And while it’s easy to put my phone and it’s apps in dark mode, when I’d open up Safari it would be BRIGHT ASS WHITE because most websites are like that.

Even when I have Color Filters and Night Mode engaged, it was still a dagger in my eyeballs if I needed to look something up in my browser.

I had this little problem for yearrrssssss….

UNTIL I FOUND THE NOIR APP

It is so fucking simple and I don’t know how I didn’t find it sooner.

Once installed, Noir just automatically puts all websites in Dark Mode.

You can also customize themes and select different ones for different websites and all that if you want to.

Personally, I don’t do any of that. I just want to browse without eyeball pain and it does the trick.

It was only like $3 for a one-time lifetime purchase and I just don’t think you can beat that.

(seems they have it for desktop for $4 if you’re into that too)

Last night we finished watching the last episode of Queer Eye Season 8 and I’ll never stop loving every part of this damn production.

It’s such a gut-check with every episode and I shed at least two tears every time.

It’s a mix of sorrow for the individuals who were nominated combined with so much solace and relief when they get the help they often desperately need.

And even in the episodes where someone SEEMS to have a decently average life, the stories that expose them are good reminders that all of us need assistance sometimes.

Truly, the 5 gays are genuinely just so fucking gentle and loving with their subjects it’s always a pleasure to see.

The icing on the cake for me is that I have a boyfriend who will sit and experience all of this mushy TV by my side on the couch and I couldn’t be more grateful.

I just love him

Speaking of boyfriends!!

Bee had his show on Thursday and it went soooo well i’m so proud 😭😭😭

As someone who lives most of my life in workout clothes and is currently (always) trying to find tights that are just as good as, but less expensive and pretentious as, the lululemon ones I always wear

A quote from Trick Mirror by Jia Tolentino:

“This is how athleisure has carved out the space between exercise apparel and fashion: the former category optimizes your performance, the latter optimizes your appearance, and athleisure does both simultaneously.

It is tailor-made for a time when work is rebranded as pleasure so that we will accept more of it—a time when, for women, improving your looks is a job that you’re supposed to believe is fun.

And the real trick of athleisure is the way it can physically suggest that you were made to do this—that you’re the kind of person who thinks that putting in expensive hard work for a high-functioning, maximally attractive consumer existence is about as good a way to pass your time on earth as there is.“

That whole book is fucking phenomenal.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone looking to understand themself better in our extremely online society.

It’s less than 5 bucks on Kindle right now!!

Thanks for hanging ❤️

xoxo,
